Alexandra Ravskaya

Ukrainian artist Alexandra Ravskaya, born in Odesa and now residing in Stockholm, draws deep inspiration from her coastal roots. Growing up by the Black Sea, her vibrant surroundings fostered a love for colour, nature and freedom that now takes form in her art, with pieces that explore themes of harmony and the interconnectedness of nature and humanity.

“I’ve realized that everything in nature is perfect. The world is in perfect balance. It’s us humans that create stress and chaos for ourselves and for others – no one knows how to do that better than humans. My art is about that peaceful and harmonious world, in which we could live, but we don’t.”

Her journey began at the Odesa Art Lyceum, followed by the Odesa State Academy of Building and Architecture, where she developed a strong foundation in classical art techniques.

From Classroom to Canvas

Reflecting a journey through various artistic influences, from Renaissance painters like Fra Angelico and Botticelli to modern Swedish painters like Bror Hjorth and Jockum Nordström, Alexandra’s work combines figurative compositions with abstract elements and folk art. Her paintings often depict its subjects with a sense of naivety, emphasising innocence and simplicity. Working primarily with tempera, acrylic and crayons on canvas, Alexandra embraces spontaneity in her creative process, allowing each piece to evolve organically.

“The most amazing thing is that I can’t predict what the final result will be. Each painting becomes its own creature during the creative process and takes on its own form. Absolute magic!”
