Fascinated by the way the French painter Henry Matisse portrayed La Pompadour, Jaron Su decided to try and create a portrait in his own style. During his research he discovered something interesting: “It turns out la pompadour isn’t a person, it is a hairstyle.”

Jaron Su is an artist who grew up in Taiwan, and moved to the Netherlands in 2014, where he is again living now after a 2-year stint in San Diego.
All of his paintings tell a story, and every story has a little twist. You’ll have to look closely: details matter to he. He wants to put a smile on your face.
