AOA Atelier

Shaping the Intangible
AOA Atelier is the creative playground of Copenhagen-based artist Laura Julie Brage, where drawing, textiles, sculpture and material exploration converge. With a Master’s degree in Architecture from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, Laura sees her work not as fixed objects, but as imagined spaces – shaped by intuition, movement and the energy of the forms themselves. Rooted in a deep connection to process, Laura’s work moves fluidly between mediums, always anchored by a sharp instinct for composition and an unfiltered approach to creation.
“I don’t see my work as physical objects or material surfaces – it’s more of an imaginary space, created by illusions.”
AOA Atelier exists across disciplines – art, objects, apparel – expanding in different directions while staying true to a raw, expressive visual language. Drawing is at the core of everything, her pen and paper the most essential tools, but her practice extends to textiles, thread, wood and sculpture, always with an openness to new materials.

Decoding the Unseen
Some ideas emerge from observation, others from a task or the feel of a material in her hands. She doesn’t always know what a piece is until it’s made – describing her practice as decoding something that can’t be put into words. “If I knew exactly what I was doing, I’m not sure I’d find it that relevant to do.”
Dogs are a recurring motif in Laura’s work – sometimes as symbols, sometimes as companions, but always present. Colour, too, is instinctive, less about a fixed palette and more about the way strokes interact, how space is charged between forms. Through continuous exploration and instinctive creation, AOA Atelier remains in motion – always evolving, always seeking new perspectives.
