Melissa Bech
Brand consultant Melissa Bech splits her time between Copenhagen and Skodsborg, a coastal town just north of the Danish capital, where she lives with her partner, Kasper, and their 16-month-old son, Clint. Their home dates back to 1967 and is shaped by late-60s Scandinavian architectural principles: clean lines, functional planning and a low, horizontal silhouette that emphasises proportion, light and the relationship to the garden. Melissa is currently heading up the newly launched clothing brand, Rouge Edit, and her home reflects the same sense of considered direction – a modern Scandinavian interior with a lived-in, layered feel, guided by pared-back lines, natural materials and a neutral colour palette that sits comfortably within the house’s architectural framework.
The house’s large windows are Melissa’s favourite detail. They bring her close to nature, flooding the rooms with light and framing the garden like living art. After moving north of the city, she has come to value that proximity, with the forest and the sea within walking distance. She is also inspired by Japanese style and culture, where minimalism, a considered approach to materials and thoughtful composition play a big role in how she curates the space.
When it comes to art, Melissa is clear. “Art has to evoke a feeling,” she says. She loves playing with colour, but is very picky, looking for strong composition, emotional resonance and palette harmony so a piece enhances the room without overpowering it.
Her Curated by selection is driven by mood and cohesion, choosing art prints that work in dialogue with one another across different rooms. “Each piece was selected to evoke a specific feeling,” Melissa says. Lounger by Another Art Project and Slumber by Amélie Lehoux bring calm and softness, while Bleu by Lucrecia Rey Caro brings movement and contrast, the blue composition offset by a red frame.
Melissa’s favourite piece is the Wall Object Rituel au soleil, which is handcrafted in Argentina by artist Lucrecia Rey Caro. For her, it embodies a celebration of gratitude and our enduring connection to the natural world, feeling both timeless and deeply resonant in her home.
