Born and raised in Malaysia and now based in Singapore, photographer Siew Lee Low began creating art in 2006 after a friend gave her a film camera. She is drawn to film for its mystery, unexpected imperfections and nostalgic look, combining a minimalistic style with elements inspired by the 1960s and 1970s. Seeing art as an adventure of exploration, she finds inspiration in light, shadow, nature, architecture, movies and cultures around the world. She describes her work as warm, simple and lively, a way to express herself and focus her energy.

“I started creating art when one of my friends gave me a film camera as a gift back in 2006. Film photography is so wonderful, because has a different vibe and element of mystery. I love the unexpected imperfections and nostalgic look.”
