Steffi Bauer

German illustrator and textile designer Steffi Bauer creates expressive works shaped by colour, texture and the rhythm of everyday life. Originally from the countryside near Munich and now based in the city, she works fluidly between mediums – chalk, paint and digital drawing – capturing fleeting impressions of tables, gardens and gatherings. “I love colours, and I love using lots of colour in my work,” she says. “They connect to feelings and shapes.”

Whether sketching on paper or painting on fabric, Bauer’s process is intuitive and grounded in observation. “I turn off my phone, choose colours, and then just begin,” she explains. Each drawing feels alive with movement, simplicity and warmth; an invitation to notice the quiet beauty in daily rituals.

Moments of Connection

Food, table culture and the act of coming together have become recurring motifs in Bauer’s work. “On the surface, it might look simple,” she says, “but for me, it’s really about the feeling of sharing a meal or sitting at a dinner table – the exchange and inspiration that come from those moments.”

Bauer’s style carries the spontaneity of a sketch combined with the emotional openness of colour. From vegetables and kitchen objects to abstract arrangements, her drawings evoke a sense of familiarity and joy. “My artistic work truly saves me,” she reflects. “It’s what gives me strength.” The result is art that balances spontaneity and structure, transforming everyday scenes into something quietly expressive.
