Handcrafted and hand-painted in Romania by Ana Gurduza, The Flyer is a ceramic relief depicting a flying figure surrounded by birds. As if understanding that flight is not conquered but received, the birds become his garment and path – his wings and story.
The figure stands between earth and sky and, instead of fearing the fall, moves in a state of presence: “I dance them all, I celebrate them all in a state of presence, a tender courage to be alive.”
The work draws on a recurring idea in Ana’s practice, a space between water and sky, unseen yet deeply felt. Between sea and sky there is no edge, only a breath, where the human figure learns how to be.
Part of a series of ceramic Wall Objects, The Flyer centres on movement, balance and a sense of being suspended between two states.
As this is a handcrafted item, variations in form and finish will occur.Materials:
